The Center for Aging Resources (CFAR) announces
a new and nontraditional outreach program for
Who
can we serve:
Ř
Individuals who have difficulty accessing needed
supportive services for such varied reasons as:
Ř
Paranoid or
anxious thoughts that often leave them fearful of outside intervention
Ř
A fear of
using mental health services due to “appearing weak” or other concerns if
feeling stigmatized
Ř
“Unusual”
or bizarre thinking delusional ideation, or auditory/visual hallucination
Ř
Elders who
are in a dependent, emotionally complex interpersonal relationship that
increases their risk of abuse
Ř
Those with
cognitive impairments (e.g., diminished judgment or an inability to problem
solve)
Ř
Elders who may be unwilling or unable to leave
home for treatment
Services
to be provided:
Ř
Crisis
stabilization
Ř
Development
of an on-going, trusting relationship to help the older adult cope with future
escalated situations
Ř
Evaluation
of overall needs, and mental health needs in particular, in order to develop
appropriate
treatment and/or referral
Ř
Help in
reducing repeated ineffective or inappropriate contact with community agencies,
law
enforcement, the fire department, friends, neighbors, or
others
Ř
Active clinical intervention with individualized
treatment plan and goals adapted to the particular
needs and
situation
